Interview Questions?

I've been thinking about doing interviews with some of my fellow ghost hunters on here but I have no idea what to ask them. I pretty much know their views on things already, so coming up with creative questions has been a bit of a challenge.

So I need your help. What kind of questions would you like to see asked? What do you guys want to know about? I'm open to pretty much any question you guys can come up with, and will do my best to bug some of my team members into answering.

Protect yourself from the wrong kind of ghost hunters

One of the downsides of pretty much any business is that there’s always a few shady people lurking around, trying to take advantage of innocent people. Occasionally we will do an investigation where the property owner has paid a group a lot of money to come in and ‘remove ghosts,’ do a house blessing, or just paid them and never heard back.

If you are going to have an investigation done, it’s important to research the group you’re working with. First, make sure they sound professional and knowledgeable when you talk to them. Then, ask them for references. Any seasoned group should have no trouble providing contacts for you to talk to about their work. Also, meet with them before hand if you can. You will get a much better gage of who is coming into your property. Be sure to ask about their techniques and equipment, because it varies a lot between groups. Also, find out how old their members are. A group of 15 year old ghost hunters is probably not who you want running through your house unsupervised. Find a group whose beliefs and system makes you comfortable. Most importantly, ask how much they are going to charge you. None of the respectable groups I know charge for investigations. There’s no reason you should ever pay to have a ghost hunting group in your house.

Most of the groups out there really do have good intentions and want to help others. But there are always a few bad seeds out there. So keep your eyes open and do plenty of research before inviting a group into your home or business. With a little work, it can be a great experience for everyone.

Ghost Photo?

I thought today I would do something a little different. I'm going to post a photo from one of my team's investigations. There's a strange anomaly in the photo, so I thought I'd get your opinion on the image. The shot is taken facing down a hallway and at the end of the hallway, there's something dark behind the door. The dark spot doesn't appear in any of our other photos of that doorway, or in our video.

Here's the original photo:

And here's a cropped and lightened version of the photo:

At first, we thought it was some sort of reflection from the camera, but we weren't able to recreate the affect in any other photos. The spot also resembles the face of a young girl, which is interesting because the property owner believes this area is haunted by a young girl. Also, when we watched the video of when this photo was taken, one of our investigators was calling the name of the little girl and asking her to come over. Of course, it's totally possible that there's a logical explanation for the photo, but it does make you wonder.

So what do you think is causing the anomaly in the photo?

The death of 35 sheep in Mexico is being attributed to the Chupacabra. You can read about it here.

A photo of an unkown stuffed creature, being called a Texas Blue Dog, is causing even more discussion of the Chupacabra. You can see it here.

An unknown giant insect (being reffered to as a tree lobster) was discovered on an extinct volcano off Australia. You can see it here. It certainly makes you wonder what other things still haven't been discovered.

Also, someone sent me a pretty fun infographic of haunted places in America. If you're thinking about taking a haunted trip, it's worth a look.

Ghost Hunting Dangers

A warning has been going around the ghost hunting groups online this week that I think is worth mentioning. Basically, a guy asked a group of ghost hunters to come out to his home to investigate. When they got there, he took out a gun and threatened them. Luckily, no one got hurt.

Ghost hunters need to be extremely careful when dealing with people they don’t know. It’s usually a good idea to take clients through referrals. Sometimes, though, people do call groups out of the blue and genuinely need help. If a stranger calls and wants your group to come out, at least do a basic background check on the individual.

There are a lot of dangerous people out there and running into them is one of the risks that can be prevented with a little bit of effort. Please be careful if you are going to go to a strangers house for an investigation and take every possible precaution. Your life could depend on it.
