Weekly News Round-up 2/23/12

A strange glowing ball has been appearing in the sky in Germany. You can see a video of it here.

In China, a woman's ghost was sold into marriage-twice. You can read about the interesting cultural practice here.

A family in England believes that the return of a painting has put their ghost  to rest. UK Auctioneers has the story here.

  1. I understand the ghost-bride practice in China. Especially since women are often looked at as lesser and are supposed to look after the man at all times in their culture. Their culture also doesn't necessarily see marriage equating in someone loving another so...

*I am not saying ALL Chinese people see things in this way.*

  2. Oh there is no rest for women...even when they are dead. I'm sure the selling ghost thing originated in the head of a man.

  3. Yes, sometimes cultural things seem weird, but our stuff is just as strange to them. And yes, I'm sure a guy came up with this idea. lol.
